The “soul mate” is the belief that there is a special someone who is meant to be with us.  They are a perfect fit. However, we need to find that special person wherever they are.

Darwinism is the theory that mate selection is driven by evolutionary factors, the survival of the fittest.  Women are searching and looking for the best provider they can find (social status) and men are looking for the most feminine women (associated with health and fertility).

Darwinism/soul mate suggests that we select a mate based on survival and then we proceed to romanticize their qualities, fall in love, and them have he/she become our soul mate.  Love is in fact in the eye of the beholder.
