For the extra credit assignment you must first explain the essential difference between LEAN and Six Sigma. Then identify a manufacturing company that has implemented “LEAN” or LEAN Six Sigma in their organization and prepare a report that identifies the major actions undertaken and the tangible/measureable benefits that were achieved. You can search the popular business press (Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Business Week, etc.) to identify a Company. Do not search academic journals, as the articles they publish are typically too complex.
For the company you select, prepare and submit a paper that is a minimum of four and maximum of five typed pages (double spaced, maximum font size of 11) in length. Although we are focusing on manufacturing companies for this report, a wide range of service companies, including, doctors, lawyers, accountants, hospitals, nonprofit organizations and even the military have successfully implemented LEAN Six Sigma.
