Right to Work states vs. Union Shop states has been given a lot of political and media attention lately. Discuss the current Union situation – look at all angles, and give opinions on:
1. Eficiency – short and long run.
2. Impact on wages, working conditions, politics and overall economic well-being – domestic and global.
3. Impact on the middle class

Read and refer to this document regularly. It will tell you what assignments you should read and when, and how and when you will be assessed. Instructions for assignments: You must discuss each question with your team members in the Team Thread in the Discussions tool. Assignments are somewhat open-ended encouraging teams and individuals to be creative in their responses thus adding to the learning experience. In the real-world, thinking outside the box and developing creative thinking are highly prized skills that will benefit the student throughout his/her life. There may be more than one correct answer for some of the assignments based upon the assumptions made by the team. I’m looking for college level work – current research, common sense analysis, and professional writing. Please do not present a history of the topic, rather be current and tell me what YOU think based upon the research. Travel outside of the box and maybe give a different perspective. Please provide the sources of your research both in the body of the paper or presentation as well as a Works Cited page. All submissions will be checked for Plagiarism (see ‘Academic Honesty’ in this document) by ‘Turnitin’. If you use someone else’s words in your submission – make sure you use quotation marks and give credit. Papers and presentations that are less than 40% original will not be accepted and will receive a grade of ‘0’ for the assignemnt. Please be extra careful when you cut and paste!!! You may use the text, Wikipedia and Investopedia, etc. as minor sources as long as other, more valid, sources are used. If you wish to use Power Point that’s OK, otherwise use Word. I’m somewhat liberal when I grade the assignments – please give me something to work with. Please do not give me several mini papers – it’s the leader’s responsibility to make sure that the submission comes together. Also, it is the leader’s responsibility to indicate the contribution of each member along with the submission – be specific. Those that do not participate will not get credit and may be dropped from the course. Each member has to be actively involved in the team – please check in frequently. The team leader will submit the answer for each assignment to the Instructor. Only team leaders will submit assignments. Your grade will depend on your discussions with your teammates and the final answer that is submitted. Everyone in the group will take turns being the team leader, if possible.
